But they’re also packed with the kinds of ingredients that can make your health more complicated.
“Some of these products have some potentially harmful ingredients that are in there that we don’t want in there, or that we have concerns about,” says Lisa K. Miller, a registered dietitian and nutritionist with The Weight Loss Institute.
“If you have concerns that these are ingredients that you don’t really want in your diet, I think it’s important to do some research.”
A lot of these companies also offer the option of ordering in-store.
But Miller cautions against ordering online, and she says the store will charge a “small markup” for the product.
You may not be able to order vegan products online, so you’ll have to ask a store for it.

Vegan Foods That Aren’t Vegan: The products on this list are products that are marketed to the general public, but many people don’t know that they are vegan, or they have trouble finding vegan foods to eat.
“I don’t think the majority of people are aware that they’re vegan, and they’re not necessarily aware that there are vegan products on the market,” Miller says.
“They may be aware that you can make a vegetarian version of a recipe, but they may not know that you’re not eating plant-foods, that they might have a health problem, and so they’re more likely to go for products that contain animal ingredients.”

“Vegan foods should be prepared for a variety and varied diets, and I would definitely recommend not eating a vegan diet,” she says.
She also recommends choosing foods that are healthy and nutritious, and avoiding foods that contain allergens.
She suggests choosing products that have no artificial colors or preservatives, and products that do not contain refined grains or dairy.
“There are a lot of products that you might consider, but I would not necessarily consider a vegan product as being healthy for you,” she advises.
“It’s more important to know how to do things on your own.”
