La weight loss ‘huel’ to success as Ireland weight loss success stories, says Leinster’s Gavan McCartan
LEINSTER, Ireland – Leinsters weight loss story may be short, but it has been a long road to the finish line.
Gavan McCarty’s journey began in 2011 when he was diagnosed with the same illness that has forced him to lose weight and become a vegan.
He was also in a long-term relationship at the time, and he was unsure of what his options were for a long time.
However, after a few years of living in Ireland, his life changed when he decided to make the change for a number of reasons, including being on a mission.
His journey to losing weight was not the easiest, but with the help of his wife and friends, he achieved a lot of progress in the span of four years.
“My wife and I, along with my best friends and colleagues, had been helping with the journey, and it was all going well at the start, but things started to go south in the beginning of last year,” he said.
“We were living in a house with an electrical issue, and I felt like I was going downhill and it seemed like I couldn’t get any further.”
Then a couple of weeks later, I had the idea to do a weight loss plan.
“I thought it was going to be a bit of a gamble, and maybe a bit hard, but I decided to give it a go.”
As McCarty got better, the plan became more complex, and with time, it became easier and easier to lose the weight.
But then, in the summer of 2017, the wheels came off and the wheels started to come off again.
“It’s a bit like having a child,” McCarty said.
“It’s so important to get your child to do something like this, to make them feel confident, to show them that you care about them.”
The more that they get on board with it, the more positive things get.
I’m lucky that I’ve been able to give them that confidence.
“And I think it’s just going to continue to get better, and more people are going to want to do the same.”
Mcarty has been in a number, but his most recent success is one that is very different to many others.
The 32-year-old has been the first to achieve a successful weight loss in his own home.
He was recently interviewed by Irish television station RTE and said he is very proud of what he has achieved.
“For me, the biggest thing about losing weight is that it gives you so much control over it,” he told the station.
“If I have a couple more weeks on it, I’m not going to change my mind and I’m going to lose that weight.”
As long as I’m having fun, I don’t have to worry about that.
I can go to the gym, I can do the diet, and that’s all it is.
I’ve never had to worry if I was hungry or not, I’ve had a good life.
“That’s why I love doing it.
That’s why we want to have more of it.”
It’s not an easy task, but McCarty is happy with the outcome.
“With weight loss you need a lot more control over the process, so I’m proud of myself for doing what I did and being the first person to do it.”
Hopefully, the next person will have the same drive to follow in my footsteps.
“He said that while it was hard at the beginning, the weight loss journey has been rewarding and has been one that he is looking forward to every single day.”
In a lot a ways, it’s a positive thing, because it gives me more control and I know that I’m doing the right thing for my body,” he explained.”
When I think about it now, when I look back on it all, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.
